How to Manage Work Schedule Rules and Shift Patterns

A Work Schedule Rule specifies the period and pattern of a work schedule. A Work Schedule Rule has the following: criteria Start Date, Reference Date, Pattern Length and Shift Pattern.

Adding a Work Schedule Rule with a Shift Pattern

In this exercise, we will add a Work Schedule Rule "4D 40HRS" in Fewzion

1. Click on the Manage icon

 

2. Click List in the Work Schedule Rule section

 

3. Click Add in the Work Schedule Rules section

 

4. Enter the name of the Work Schedule Rule (e.g. 4D 40HRS) in the empty row that appears on the Work Schedule Rules section

Press Enter to add the Work Schedule Rule to the list.

5. Set the Start Date and Reference Date in the Shift Patterns section

Info

Start Date is the effective date of the pattern.

Reference Date enables to calculate the Shift Pattern infinitely into the future or the past. The Reference Date set the first day of the Shift Pattern. For instance, if the Reference Date refers to a Sunday than Cycle Day 1 = Sunday, hence the Shift Pattern will be from Sunday to the last day of the Pattern Length.

Pattern Length is usually multiple of seven (7).

5.1 Click on the default date in the Shift Patterns section

 

5.2 Select the Date

 

6. Set the Pattern Length in the Shift Patterns section

6.1 Click on the default pattern lenght (21) in the Shift Patterns section

 

6.2 Enter the required Pattern Length

The detailed Shift Pattern will appear on the Shifts Pattern section (on the right hand side).

You can add more than one Shift Pattern to a Work Schedule Rule so you are able to plan future Pattern changes. To add Shift Patterns, click on Add (on the Shift Patterns section) and enter the details of the Shift Pattern.

7. Set the shifts for the required days on the Shifts Pattern section

7.1 Click on the shift on the Shift Pattern section in the Shift Patterns section

 

7.2 Select the shift

 

8. Check the Work Schedule Rule details

 

 

Changing the Details of a Shift Pattern

To change the Start Date of a Shift Pattern

1. Click on the Manage icon

 

2. Click List in the Work Schedule Rule section

 

3. Select the Work Schedule Rule. Click on the Start Date

 

4. Select the new Start Date

 

5. Press Enter on your keyboard or click anywhere on the screen to save the change

 

To change the Pattern Length of a Shift Pattern

1. Click on the Manage icon

 

2. Click List in the Work Schedule Rule section

 

3. Select the Work Schedule Rule. Click on the Pattern Length

 

4. Enter the new Pattern Length

Press Enter on your keyboard or click anywhere on the screen to apply the change.
The detailed Shift Pattern will appear on the Shifts Pattern section (on the right hand side).

To change the Shifts of a Shift Pattern

1. Click on the Manage icon

 

2. Click List in the Work Schedule Rule section

 

3. Select the Work Schedule Rule. Click on the Shift

 

4. Select the Shift

 

5. Delete the shift

 

6. Select the new shift

 

 

Adding a Shift Pattern

1. Click on the Manage icon

 

2. Click List in the Work Schedule Rule section

 

3. Select the Work Schedule Rule and click Add in the Shift Patterns section

 

4. Change the Start and Reference Dates and the Pattern Length

By default the Start and Reference Date of a new Shift Pattern is always the first day (e.g. Monday) of the current planning week and the Pattern Length is 21.

5. Add the required shifts to the Shift Pattern

Deleting a Shift

1. Click on the Manage icon

 

2. Click List in the Work Schedule Rule section

 

3. Select the Work Schedule Rule and Shift Pattern. Click on the deletable shift

 

4.  Click on the little X (next to the drop-down list arrow) to delete the shift

 

 

Deleting a Shift Pattern

1. Click on the Manage icon

 

2. Click List in the Work Schedule Rule section

 

3. Select the Work Schedule Rule and Shift Pattern. Click Delete

 

 

Deleting a Work Schedule Rule

1. Click on the Manage icon

 

2. Click List in the Work Schedule Rule section

 

3. Select the Work Schedule Rule. Click Delete

 

Info!

Deleting a Work Schedule Rule will automatically delete the Shift Pattern of the Work Schedule Rule.
